Frequently Asked Questions

What is The City?

The City is an online tool that helps you connect with others and to the mission of Loxley Church: to love, lead, and live in Christ. It’s designed to get you connected the many groups that make up our church as well as to the many amazing people that make up our church family. It’s not Facebook—it’s safer, more secure, and more focused. You will only see news from Loxley Church, and we’ll be able to get information to you faster than ever.

What made Loxley Church decide to start using The City?

At our first Team Building meeting in 2015, members of our ministry teams and congregation asked for more communication between leadership and volunteers and between ministry groups. We also had members ask for the ability to give online. In order to streamline our efforts and solve two problems with one solution, we decided to utilize The City. The City allows our members to receive communication in the best format for them—via email, in an app, or online. Communication will be more one-on-one as opposed to one-to-many. This app will make it easier for visitors and new members to find groups suited for them and will allow our staff and group leaders to engage in real-time communication between different groups. As Loxley Church continues to grow, we don’t want members to fall away because of lack of communication. So get connected and stay informed!!

What does The City do differently than other social networks?

Do you ever get overwhelmed by the amount of information on Facebook? There are so many ads, so many pages competing for your attention, and, sometimes, so much negativity. The City will only contain information from and for our church. You won’t miss important announcements because of a busy newsfeed. You’ll be able to see events, prayer requests, needs, and topics specific to our church without the noise on other social networks.

The City also allows for the connection to continue outside of technology. Want to schedule meals to take to a new mom? You can do that on The City! Want to get a group together to clean an elderly member’s yard? The City can help you do that, too! If you’re looking for a way to get involved with ministry, fill out your skill set and The City will show you ministry teams you may enjoy. When you need prayer, post to The City, and members will be notified in real time of your need. It’s an amazing way to use technology as a tool to be the hands and feet of Jesus, and to be a church family every day of the week, not just Sunday or Wednesday.

Is The City secure?

Yes!! The City is a very secure web-based tool. It was originally created by the man who invented the online shopping cart for Amazon. All tithes given through the Giving Module are processed through Vanco Services, a reputable (and PCI Certified) payment service. The City is owned by ACS Technologies, a company that Loxley Church has had a longstanding relationship with.

Only people that are on The City for Loxley Church can see your account (and you can even control how much they can see based on your privacy settings). Your account will not show up on a Google search. It is designed solely for our use. No one has unlimited access to The City.
Your prayer request and needs will only be visible to the people you choose to share them with.

Can my children use The City?

All users must be 13 or older. Users between the ages of 14 and 18 will only be able to receive messages from people they are friends with, and parents can monitor who their children interact with.

What if I don’t want to use The City?

Those who choose not to join The City will unfortunately be unable to use The City. Don’t worry! You will still be able to find important information at our Welcome Center and at the information centers located throughout the church. We will also post church-wide announcements for larger events on our social media sites and website.

We want to stress that you do not have to be an expert to use The City. If you have an email address, you can use this app. One reason we love The City is because it allows people to use it however they want. If you want to login everyday, great! If you would rather receive simple emails from the church page or groups you’re involved in once a day or once a week, that’s fine!

What if I don’t have a computer or internet access?

We will be putting a computer and a City Connect Agent in the hospitality room on Sundays to assist members in joining The City and to allow those without a computer to access their accounts for a quick check-in. This computer will only be able to access The City and will have no other function. This will also be a place where you can come to ask questions get help using The City to its fullest potential.
